Welcome Message from the President, RC Lubowa

You are most welcome to the Lubowa Rotary Club website! I am honored to serve as President for the 2024/2025 Rotary year.

As we continue our mission to make a positive impact in our community and around the world, I invite you to explore our website and learn more about our club’s activities, projects, and values.

This Rotary year 2024/2025, the flagship project of D9214 is to, ‘Plant Your Balance’ where different Clubs will plant trees to celebrate more than 100 years of Rotary in Africa. Our Club was honored to host the District Centennial Plant the Balance Launch where over 300 trees were planted at Kiwamirembe Catholic Church. RC Lubowa will carry out a project activity in this regard every month to contribute to the environmental and biodiversity conservation.

RC Lubowa is dedicated to supporting maternal and child health MCH) through our MCH Bunapongo project in Mbale – Eastern Uganda where we are mobilizing resources to build a maternity ward at the Bunapongo Health Centre III and equipping it with a 45,000$ global grant.

We also support the youth by working on different projects with our Rotaract Clubs of Lubowa and Mild May Institute of Health Sciences, but also in an Environment sustainability project, ‘Beyond The Tree Planting’ (BTTP) where our Interactors at Grace High School and Atlas High School; are spearheading the tree planting and seed hunting to ensure they stock the 25,000 nursery bed established at their Schools.

The Club is also providing water in a global grant WASH project in Suam – Eastern Uganda, where the intervention will provide a solar powered water system to improve lives of about 4800 people in that community.

To promote Education and Literacy, RC Lubowa adopted a village in Kasanje with a Primary School – St, Kizito, where we have previously provided a 23,000litre water tank and built toilets for the boys and girls. This Rotary year, we built a 3 classroom multi-purpose block which can be used as a Hall and has 3 classrooms. This not only increased their classroom space, but it also improved their learning environment. We shall now embark on working towards improving performance of the pupils and providing them with a water source to ease the burden of searching for water from long distances.

When we started out this year, we planned to have a project on disease prevention and control and RC Lubowa purposed to double their contribution towards Polio eradication. We also received a Malaria community impact grant which is attached to the MCH project in Mbale focusing on eradicating malaria in the community. This grant is focused on controlling and treating malaria in mainly the expectant mothers and children below 6 years of age in Bukasakya – Bungokho.  We are a people of action and we believe that through service and fellowship, we can make a real difference in the lives of others.
